Protecting Workers’ Entitlements

Every year, thousands of Australian workers are made redundant when the company or business they work for collapses or goes into insolvency. Only then do they find out that the business had not set aside enough money to pay their rightful entitlements.

Australian employees work hard and deserve to know that their wages, superannuation and other entitlements are safe. They shouldn’t have to worry about being paid what they have already earned.

Julia Gillard and Labor have developed the Protecting Workers’ Entitlements package. This package stands in stark contrast to the Coalition, who will simply rip workers’ entitlements away.

Labor will protect workers entitlements in three ways:

  • The Fair Entitlements Guarantee
  • Securing Super
  • Strengthening Corporate and Taxation Law

The Fair Entitlements Guarantee will protect workers’ entitlements like redundancy pay, annual leave, long service leave.

In Securing Super, Labor will strengthen measures to ensure employees receive all their superannuation entitlements.

Lastly, Strengthening Corporate and Taxation Law will give ASIC increased powers, strengthening penalties to take action against companies and phoenix operators that do the wrong thing.

The Labor Government’s Protecting Workers’ Entitlements package will provide the strongest protection of employee entitlements Australian workers have ever had.

The Fair Entitlements Guarantee will deliver key improvements for Australian workers because the Fair Entitlements Guarantee will be enshrined in legislation.

Australians work hard for their wages, superannuation and other entitlements. The biggest risk to these entitlements is Tony Abbott.

Don’t risk your worker entitlements this election.
