Jobs under threat if Green Building Program axed
The Gillard Government must not put construction jobs in jeopardy by scrapping the promised Tax Breaks for Green Buildings program.
CFMEU Construction National Secretary Dave Noonan said the program, due to start on July 1, is critical and would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by improving the energy efficiency of older commercial buildings and create thousands of jobs in the construction industry.

Abbott goes backwards on 457 visas
Tony Abbott has signalled today that he wants to return to the 457 visa abuses of the Howard Government – rather than ensure the mining boom creates jobs for Australians.
In an extraordinary statement, Mr Abbott actually said that “the introduction of sub-class 457 visas was one of the former government’s most significant innovations”.
CFMEU National Secretary Construction Dave Noonan said that Mr Abbott’s comments showed the true colours of the Coalition on crucial issues of worker protection and job security.
