About CFMEU TAS
The Tasmanian Branch is one of the smallest branches of the CFMEU Construction Division, but is very active in protecting the rights and interests of members. The Branch has around 1,500 members in a range of fixed establishments and construction sites across the state.
The Branch has three officials servicing the membership in the state. They are:
Tony Benson - State Secretary
Bill White - Assistant Secretary
Marshall Reeves - Organiser (fixed establishments)
The small size of the Branch means that there is a personal level of service and interaction. The Branch officials encourage a high level of contact with members.
Some of the services provided by the Branch include:
- Representation on the job by effective and experienced union representatives.
- Training courses in areas such as Occupational Health and Safety and delegates' rights.
- Union-negotiated collective agreements.
- Free legal representation for worker's compensation and unfair dismissal cases.
- Free copies of the branch journal The Tasmanian Bluey.
